A CURR in between - 3 WOOD !!!

No Pimpsqueakin today, I had to work on this Curr. I prepped the onlays a while back. The cocobolo in the center also runs under the koa at both ends. It was a fun project. The damascus is ball bearing material that Chad Nichols made.

Specs:

- Chad Nichols "Ball Bearing" damascus blade handrubbed with a compound grind
- frame parts and clip and anodized in brown
- clip in burst finish
- heatcolored hardware
- backspacer in CF

The Pimpsqueak - NEW Folder Design

Here's some WIP pics. Not much yet, but you can get an idea of the size, sitting on my iPhone. The parts in the photo are my D2 templates that I use for tracing on the actual materials. So far all I've done is just cutting material and profiling parts. My plan is to build 3 at first in various frame configurations and see how everything works. After that, an intial run of 12 or so. I still have to come up with a final pocket clip design. The handle feels somewhat small and cramped for my hand so that should work out just right!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP - Finished pics

It's done!!!

But just a few word. After sitting here today and flicking it, two thoughts come to mind. First, I'm thinking of loosing the gold highlights in favor of a more subdued, completely blue anodizing. The carved triangles would still be shiny and visible but less blingy! So thats the result!

Specs:

- Chad Nichols "Ladder" damascus blade in two tone with a compound grind
- frame parts and clip and anodized in dark blue
- special slimline frame and clip with triangles
- heatcolored hardware
- sandwich(three parts) backspacer in moonglow and orange G10

Hope you like it! And thanks all for bidding on CK&G!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP- progress #4

Last pics for today. It's finished but too late for good photos. Fresh pics shortly after dawn. I'll try to capture the orange G10/moonglow backspacer!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP- progress #3

The blade, finished, logoed, sharpened and thumbstuds tightened. Ready for assembly!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP- progress #2

The blade is rubbed, more anodizing added to the frame. Pls check CK&G!!!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP- progress

Here's the inside of the frames and the etched blade. The blade needs to be rubbed and flats finished but you can see the pattern. The frame needs more finishing and more anodizing!

Special TRIANGLE Curr WIP

This one runs in a special auction on CK&G. Please check the link on the right side!

The Curr comes with a Chad Nichols "Ladder" damascus and compound grind blade. But what it makes os special, are the triangles in the frame. You can see the blade in closed position and some nice spots in open position. Stay tuned for the next pics!!!
